All you need to know #Review #Google_Cardboard

Virtual Reality Headsets were the main attractions in this year's CES at Las Vegas. All the headsets like Oculus Rift really seized the moment, but the main issue was there cost which varied between $200-$400 which is pretty much. Samsung also proposed that they want to work on a smartphone compatible VR headset.

But Google just replaced big, costly electronic VR headsets with just a cardboard!! what? Yes, just a piece of cardboard, two lenses and two magnets. As simple as that and it is that cheap too. It is available on Amazon only for 6 bucks. Moreover you can make it your own by just ordering the kit online and give it different colors which indeed makes it attractive you can check people's creativity on Google Cardboard's Official Site.

I had a chance of hands-on of this simple and amazing VR headset. Let's see what I found.

Firstly thing about the headset which attracted me is it's amazingly simple and cheap. Which will attract most of the user

Construction and Basic Look:

The basic look of this device is pretty simple a cardboard given shape of headset. Obviously you can make it by yourself at home as I told you earlier by just ordering the kit online. Now you can think how simple is building it. the shade which my friend ordered is black which is pretty good I would say. There's a black strap as you can see to just fit around your head and at the front a cavity for inserting the smartphone.

Many Joints are supported by pairs of velcro. At the front there is a sort of cutting or hole for the camera. Behind the flap there is a pair of Biconvex lenses divided by a piece of cardboard for separating the vision of both eyes for a 3-D sensation. The only flaw which I found in the headset was that there is no setting for spectacles for a specy guy like me it was a bit of problem but overall it has a nice design.
My friend Abhinav Goyal who ordered the Headset online tried to make the same headset by wood in the University Workshop. But there was a bit of parts problem as he was unable to find Biconvex lens used in the Headset. But, that headset is still under development.

The white one is the one which my friend made.

Working and the 3-D sensation:

Now comes the main working and and the 3-D sensation. When I wore the headset, it was pretty comfortable and the moment I wore it I really was in a Virtual World the app which was running on the Headset was the Cardboard app itself. I started the windy Day demo in the app a funny animated story of a mouse and it's hat. I was like I am standing in front of the mouse. My Friend  has Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone which has a very nice 1080 p display. So the 3-D Picture was really crisp and vivid.Basically the the apps for the cardboard divides the screen in two parts which when sen through the Biconvex lens fitted inside the Cardboard.

The other application I tried was the Virtual Tour of space and Guys one of the most amazing 3-D video experience I ever had. Really those big planets and there was a spaceship too but I did not understand that were the aliens of Human spaceship.

I also tried a bunch of apps they were as amazing as they other two were. As to conclude I would say that the it really has the excellence of Google. Such an advanced technology and complex electronic circuits replaced by just a cardboard and a pair of lens. I would say I had a really amazing experience with the Google Cardboard.

As same of the Smartphone race the notebooks are also becoming thinner, lighter and elegant in terms of looks. Dell launched it's new XPS 13 notebook the ultimate ultraportable and smaller. All Aluminium and Carbon fiber body makes it the perfect notebook.
Let's have a look at this impressive machine.

Basic Specs:

Design:

The beautiful machine having 13-inch display is packed in the 11-inch display notebooks body. The silver color of the aluminium metal body makes similar to Mac Book Air. The Notebook durable and sheen. The interior of the notebook is made of black colored Carbon Fiber.

It is the smallest 13-inch notebook till date having dimensions of 11.98 x 7.88 x 0.33-0.6 inches. It is not only attractive but it's soft-touch finish was very comfortable.

It weighs 2.8 pounds were as the HP EliteBook 1020 weighs 2.68 pounds and Lenovo Yoga 3 weighs 2.6 pounds.

Display:

The new display has been installed in Dell's new machine is named as the Infinity Display. It's not only a good marketing name but the vivid reds and the deep blacks give the name a good justification. Dell XPS -13 has got Quad-HD display. The resolution of this machine is same as that of yoga 3 and slightly higher than the 12.5 inch HP EliteBook 1020's resolution.

The higher-end version looks clear and bright, with excellent off-axis viewing angles, and the better-than-1080 resolution means you likely won’t see individual pixels or a screen door effect no matter how close to the screen you get.

Audio:

The speakers are mounted at sides and are able to crank out loud sounds. The XPS-13 delivers 94 decibels which is much higher than the Yoga 3 (86dB), the EliteBook (85 dB), the MacBook Air (73dB) and the category average (84 dB).

Ports:

The Notebook has got two USB 3.0 ports, miniDisplay Port and a headphone jack. Dell has given a SD card slot for the ones who transfer lot of pics from their camera.

There is no Ethernet port which can make it a no deal for enterprise users. Also small indicator lights are installed that show how much battery is left.

Performance, Graphics and Battery Life:

XPS 13 is first notebook which packs Intel's 5th generation Core processors, and its Core i5-5200U and 8 GB of RAM which gives enough power to run all day.

Talking about Graphics Intel HD Graphics 5500 GPU is more powerful than  the previous version, but its limitations gets visible when dealing with screens whose resolutions exceed 1080p.

Battery under normal conditions the non-touch-screen version are expected to last 15 hours and the touch version up to 11 hours according to dell.

Meet the newbies Cool Galaxy super gadgets.: #Samsung_Galaxy_S6 and the #Samsung_Galaxy_S6_Edge

The two most awaited gadgets of the year are the iPhone and the next Samsung Galaxy series smartphone. Yesterday (i.e. 02/03/2015) Samsung launched it's next gen smartphones i.e. Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge having the curved display at the edges of the smartphone. Both New gadgets got some really cool features let's check them out.

Both the smartphones comes loaded tech specs. They both have got improvements from the older Galaxy S5, much more lighter, smoother in use and a much better build quality. They main breakdowns are:

  • 5.1-inch 2560×1440 Super AMOLED display with 577 ppi
  • Exynos Octacore processor, 3GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • 32/64/128GB UFS 2.0 internal storage
  • Android 5.0
  • F/1.9 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilization and live HDR
  • F/1.9 5MP front camera with live HDR
  • Category 6 LTE with 300 Mbps down/50 Mbps up max theoretical speeds
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 AC with HT80 MIMO, Bluetooth LE, NFC, IR blaster
  • 2,550mAh (GS6) and 2,600mAh (GS6 edge) batteries

  • As we know that only specs are not the parameters to check a gadgets superiority. Most of it comes after the hands on of the device. Firstly speaking about the body and design the body is totally made of metal and glass. Samsung has completely boycotted the old plastic body manufacturing. The metal and glass body feels very good to the eyes while holding in hand. The metal frame runs throughout and is sandwiched between the two layers of Gorilla glass 4. which has also been treated on the inside with a special reflective material coating, giving them a jeweled-metal look that explains why some early leaks made it seem like Samsung had opted for metallic rear casing surfaces.

Samsung has also redone the fingerprint scanner in the home button so that you no longer have to swipe, and they’re going to use that with the launch of their Samsung Pay tech coming later this year. Finally, they’ve lightened up their approach to skinning Android (UI add-ons removed by 40 percent, in fact, according to Samsung), and don’t even mention the word ‘TouchWiz’ anywhere, which is great news.

As rumored, the phone also has embedded wireless charging tech, which includes support for both WPC and PMA standards, meaning you can use it with Starbucks, as well as with the more prevalent Qi-enabled home chargers. Samsung is also going to sell its own charging pucks, of course, and on the power front they’ve also upped wired charging by a factor of 1.5x, meaning you should get around 4 hours-worth of battery out of 10 minutes of plugged-in charging.

The new devices doesn't have any kind of the external sd card support the company says it's new UFS 2.0 tech is much faster than any other external card and the older versions of internal memory.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge go on sale starting April 10  in markets around the world, with White Pearl, Black Sapphire, and Gold Platinum color options for both, plus a special Blue Topaz for the Galaxy S6, and Green Emerald reserved for the Galaxy S6 edge. In the U.S., they’ll be available at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon, as well as Samsung’s micro-stores within Best Buy locations, Amazon.com, Costco, Sam’s Club, Target and Walmart.

Still there is lot more to come about these devices.
